4 Fingers Crispy Chicken

Dubbed better than Nene Chicken, and recently halal, I went to try it out at its ION Orchard outlet.
6pc chicken with Seaweed fries ($9.90) {free upsize for GV movie club members} tried the Hot and Soy Garlic flavours but do opt for the latter it's much nicer!

The seaweed fries: too dry and bland.
The chicken: too dry and bland also.
I wouldn't try this again. The best Soy drumlets can be found at Fix Cafe @ Toa Payoh (see my previous reviews!)
2 pc drumstick chicken rice meal ($8.90) the BEST food item here. Soy garlic drumstick was so moist and delightful. Avoid the fries at all cost.

Le Steak by Chef Amri UPDATED

Update: tried the steaks (finally!)
Done medium rare, this ribeye steak definitely hits the spot! ($18.90) cooked to perfection! (And the service improved)
Also ordered the black pepper chicken ($9.90) but this time, the texture and juicyness of the chicken was disappointing. And the limited sauce too. Are we savages?

Chicken creamy pasta ($12.90)- decent
Black pepper chicken chop with side of roast potatoes and mesclun salad ($9.90) - one of the best chicken chops I've ever tasted! Everything about it is so perfect except the stingy impoverished amount of roast potatoes.
Teriyaki Chicken with roast potatoes and mesclun salad ($9.90)- one of the best teriyaki chicken too! Like the previous item, the only downside is the serving of roast potatoes (you can't even see it here!)
Beef bolognese pasta ($9.90)- decent.

Our ice lemon tea ($3.50)- homemade but diluted. Stingy with sugar syrup too. Took forever to reach us.

Service was really horrible. Waited 20 min for our drinks and waited an additional 20min for our food to be served. Even then, the waiters confused our orders so many times. Waiters focused on larger corporate groups while largely neglecting other patrons. They also charged us twice for the drinks and had to rectify their mistake after I pointed it out to them.

I went on a Wednesday night and it was extremely crowded. Food is worth all the hassle though. Will give the steaks a try soon!

The Finest Tea Shop

Nestled away in obscure but up and coming Changi Village, TFTS offers an affordable café option aside from the already rampant halal hawker stalls.

Nutella Cheesetart ($4.50) I love that it's not so indulging... The right amount of sweet and tangy! Must try!
Salted Caramel Cupcake ($3) it's a tad pricey for that size. I expected a bigger cupcake! But tastewise, it's acceptable. I felt like there were some banana essence in the base of the cupcake. Nothing worth commenting about the filling though.
Crabmeat Sandwich ($6.90) Good!!! Soft, toasty panini alongside creamy crabmeat filling, this dish is perfect! The only downside is the potato chips.... Fries/wedges would be a better option.

Overall, this is truly an affordable and quaint café worth visiting! I heard their teas are really good! Will definitely pay them another visit soon.

Cafe Le Caire @ Al-Majlis

Been here quite a few times and they were all disappointing experiences, but I decided to give this another try cause it's the only café in sight with air-con seating. Second floor of the café is like those fine dining ATAS restaurants (perfect for dates).
It's a must for me to have Hot Apple Tea ($5+) whenever I'm in the mood for middle eastern food. This was acceptable, but the best tea is still at Derwish. Check out the cup advocating Speak(ing) Good English!
Appetizer: Falafel ($10+) I wish they had more hummus spread, but this was good!!! So flavourful and wholesome.
Seasoned Crispy Chicken with Mashed Potato and gravy ($12+) Really good!!!! Meat is so tender and fresh. The mashed potato is generously-portioned and tasty too.
Sirloin Steak - Medium Well. ($22+) Cooked to perfection. It's hard to get decent steak just the way you like it, and this is really amazing.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Came here on a Friday afternoon so there's no crowd; the service was really good, and the food (although it took quite a while, WAS SO AMAZING!!!!!!)

Butterscotch Cafe

Chilli Crab Cake Burger ($14+) The sauce is so spicy! Such a filling dish (real crab meat used; no fillers albeit a little dry)
Ramly Meets Wendy Burger ($14+) their own rendition of the Ramly burger... The patty is too thick (better to buy from pasar malam and not spend so much)
Butterscotch Soufflé ($14+) So light and delightful! Should really give this a try
Truffle Fries!!!!! ($9+) ADDICTIVE AS EVER!!!!! One of the best truffle fries I've tasted so far

The location isn't convenient, and personally, I'd only come here for the truffle fries. Service was horrendous too. Super snobbish staffs.

JB Adventures

Gently deviating from this blog's main goal i.e. Reviews on local (Singapore) restaurants, I'd like to share my short yet fulfilling trip across the border.
Fatburger @ the newly opened Komtar mall. Quite overpriced. RM50 for both sets of burger.
Honey Garlic Chicken burger with fat fries / Western Beef burger with skinny fries
USA Fried Rice at Galleria@KotaRaya
Fried Kway Teow
Thai Fried Rice
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf @City Square: Créme Brulée Latte, The original Vanilla ice blended, Hardest Red Velvet Cake ever, Mum's Scone.
Super fatty beef satay :(
Star of my trip: DIM SUM BUFFET (Kai Xuan Chinese Restaurant @ The Puteri Pacific Hotel) For RM 40 per person, this was really really really fulfilling and satisfying. Only thing missing is Salted Egg Pao. Truly a delightful brunch. Everyone should really give this a try!

Really nice ambience! Featuring Chinese Tea :)

Really great weekend! A much needed break from life. Next break: REN takes BANGKOK!!!!
