Cafe Le Caire @ Al-Majlis

Been here quite a few times and they were all disappointing experiences, but I decided to give this another try cause it's the only café in sight with air-con seating. Second floor of the café is like those fine dining ATAS restaurants (perfect for dates).
It's a must for me to have Hot Apple Tea ($5+) whenever I'm in the mood for middle eastern food. This was acceptable, but the best tea is still at Derwish. Check out the cup advocating Speak(ing) Good English!
Appetizer: Falafel ($10+) I wish they had more hummus spread, but this was good!!! So flavourful and wholesome.
Seasoned Crispy Chicken with Mashed Potato and gravy ($12+) Really good!!!! Meat is so tender and fresh. The mashed potato is generously-portioned and tasty too.
Sirloin Steak - Medium Well. ($22+) Cooked to perfection. It's hard to get decent steak just the way you like it, and this is really amazing.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Came here on a Friday afternoon so there's no crowd; the service was really good, and the food (although it took quite a while, WAS SO AMAZING!!!!!!)

Butterscotch Cafe

Chilli Crab Cake Burger ($14+) The sauce is so spicy! Such a filling dish (real crab meat used; no fillers albeit a little dry)
Ramly Meets Wendy Burger ($14+) their own rendition of the Ramly burger... The patty is too thick (better to buy from pasar malam and not spend so much)
Butterscotch Soufflé ($14+) So light and delightful! Should really give this a try
Truffle Fries!!!!! ($9+) ADDICTIVE AS EVER!!!!! One of the best truffle fries I've tasted so far

The location isn't convenient, and personally, I'd only come here for the truffle fries. Service was horrendous too. Super snobbish staffs.

JB Adventures

Gently deviating from this blog's main goal i.e. Reviews on local (Singapore) restaurants, I'd like to share my short yet fulfilling trip across the border.
Fatburger @ the newly opened Komtar mall. Quite overpriced. RM50 for both sets of burger.
Honey Garlic Chicken burger with fat fries / Western Beef burger with skinny fries
USA Fried Rice at Galleria@KotaRaya
Fried Kway Teow
Thai Fried Rice
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf @City Square: Créme Brulée Latte, The original Vanilla ice blended, Hardest Red Velvet Cake ever, Mum's Scone.
Super fatty beef satay :(
Star of my trip: DIM SUM BUFFET (Kai Xuan Chinese Restaurant @ The Puteri Pacific Hotel) For RM 40 per person, this was really really really fulfilling and satisfying. Only thing missing is Salted Egg Pao. Truly a delightful brunch. Everyone should really give this a try!

Really nice ambience! Featuring Chinese Tea :)

Really great weekend! A much needed break from life. Next break: REN takes BANGKOK!!!!

Rasa Istimewa Waterfront Restaurant

Super inconvenient if you don't drive or ride, but definitely worth the breath-taking view of the sunset on the windy jetty. (Romantic too)
Seafood fried rice with salted fish ($6+) Nice! A you-can-never-go-wrong dish
Cheesy fries ($3.50+) This was average.
Sweet and sour chicken ($12+) This was good! Tastes similar to Bumbu's (which I love! I hate it when restaurants just toss in popcorn chicken into the sauce like that of Streats HK and 18Chefs- tastes disgusting and fake)
Beef Satay ($6+/10pc) Really dry and not fresh. We couldn't finish this at all. Horrible. Wasted my calories on that.

This place is worth a visit for its scenic view of the straits of johor. And the convenience of a restaurant- a halal one, too- right on the jetty itself.

This was supposed to be a pic of me kissing the sun but I look like I'm eating it instead HAHA

Chicken Talk Kitchen

BUBBLEGUM mocktail ($3.50)- so sweet and perfect on a hot day!
CTK Bandung Wings ($7)- Their signature dish! I think they were going for something ala korean chicken... The sauce coated is the prawn sauce that you get if you order Char Kway at pasar malams. Nice! Not so unique though.
Burger Bako Single ($11)- burger stuffed with onion rings, egg, crispy beef bacon, tomatoes and super thick juicy beef! Served with uniquely crisp fries. I enjoyed this tremendously. Initially wanted to order Double Patty(they have triple patty too!) since there's two of us eating but this was enough to fill us both.

A little out of the way since it's in the west, but I really enjoyed this café a lot! At a much lower price compared to other comparable cafés, this café really stands out! No GST/SERVICE CHARGE (yay!)

I Am... Cafe (dessert edition)

Came here for dessert cause I had this intense Red Velvet Cake craving...
Virgin Lychee Mojito ($6.90+) I love this concoction! The lychee really adds to the sweetness of this drink.

CLASSIC RVC!!!! ($8.90+) As usual, never disappoints.

And a little something extra at the back......
Im sorry I just had to share that cause it was so surprising and cute :3

UPDATED 15/1/15: Went to this café with a different group of friends (aka my lovely girls) AND WE HAD APPETIZERS!

HOT WINGS!!!!!! ($10.90+) SO DELICIOUSSSSSS! Not too spicy for me
Fries with mayo ($6.90+) They're not kidding when they say MAYO. Whole dish drenched in mayo. Seriously.
Battered Squid Rings ($7.90+) This was good!!!! Bigger portions would be better.

Banana chocolate mousse cake ($8) - overwhelming. They have a limited selection of cakes and they don't look appetizing. This was the best. Good for sharing.
Salmon stack triple decker sandwich ($12.90)- Good! Flavourful! Although it's a little pricey.
Kari Krusty Burger with sweet potato fries ($15.90)- interesting dish (soft shell crab). Curry doesn't taste like curry at all (not authentic) sweet potato fries have this weird aftertaste. I did not enjoy this.
