Mushroom soup with croutons - very very good!
FoodFunFate- a fun, up front, trustworthy review of the latest most popular (and evergreen) cafes and restaurants around Singapore. All establishments listed here are Halal (at the point of posting).
Warong Kim's
Fried hokkien mee ($4.50) SPECIALTY. Highly recommended!!!!! So moist and flavourful. One of the best I've ever tasted.
Seafood fried rice ($4.50) decent
Sambal fried rice ($4.50) This was rly good! Much more flavourful than seafood fried rice.
Hor fun with bee hoon noodles ($5) pretty bland
Butter prawns with cereal ($16) Extremely good!!!!!! Highly recommended.

Central Thai
Thai Iced Milk Tea ($4+) a must to order at every thai restaurant, this was refreshing but it got too diluted compromising its originally milky taste.
Pad Thai ($9.90+) overpriced. Nothing special. Not recommended.
Thai style tahu telor (thai egg tofu) $8.80+ I'm a big fan of tahu telor but this was a tad too dry and bland. Better to have your tahu telor fix at Hjh Maimunah restaurant.
Seafood fried rice ($9.50+) overpriced. Bland.
This place is good for large gatherings cause it's affordable (for big groups) but not for diners ordering personal dishes. Nothing really special or worth noting. Also, service was good except for a really grumpy uncle.

MARAS
Penne Carbonara ($15.90+) with poached egg topping, this was definitely the star of the night! Highly recommended so creamy and delightful.
Peri-peri chicken ($16.90+) overpriced. Bland. Pathetic servings of baby potatoes.
Shish Tawouk Chicken with pilaf rice ($17.90+) do choose this over the peri-peri chicken above! But still, overpriced.
Beef bolognese ($14.90+) average. Decent.
Fish & Chips ($15.90+) look at that portion!!!! Highly recommended, batter was crisp too.
Blueberry waffles ($8.90+) decent.
Do come here for their carbonara and fish&chips! Stay away from poultry. Also, remember to make reservations!

Pizza Hut (Fast-Casual)
Ordered the Party of 4 meal + Treat for 2 + 1 person meal since there were 7 of us. (No service charge cause of their fast-casual theme hence we had to fill in the order chit and then pay at the cashier)
Traditional Bolognaise ($9.50+) - decent
Beef Lasagne- never disappoints
Chicken vegetable soup - they should scrap all types of soups except mushroom soup. Serving was so small.
Hawaiian reg pizza - decent
Seafood deluxe - this was so good!!!!
Bbq chicken - toppings were so little
Left the place still hungry though :( serving was definitely too small for 7 pax.

Fig & Olive
They have updated their menu (by update, I mean greatly reduced their menu items to mere 2 A5 pages)
Bbq chicken kebab wrap with fresh veggie ($8.90+) this was quite delightful. They weren't stingy with their chicken and I thought the dish was well seasoned. The side veggies though.... No dressing at all.
Fish & chips ($12.90+) fries was bland (had to add salt) the fish was crispy and nice- much like an average coffee shop range... Stingy on the coleslaw.
Also, they had no green tea can and made me an iced green tea using Dilmah tea satchet and ice water (which was priced at a ridiculous $4.50+)
Such a horrible experience for a restaurant. Ridiculous pricing for below average food and there is a lack of middle eastern dish in this self-proclaimed mediterranean place (not even hummus!!!!)
That's the new menu. No appetizers too. Standard has definitely dropped tremendously.

Hei Sushi
Let's start with appetizers! (Still disappointed by their now defunct buffet deals)
Shake Maki (salmon) $2.38+ We had two servings of this! Really gooood
Thai Fish Cake $2.88+ This was average... I thought it'd come in 5s cause it is pictured that way in the menu. Not so oily too.
Mains!!!
Yakitori ($7.88++) with set meal (Add $4.88+) Apologies for the really bad lighting! Yakitori was delicious albeit a little too fatty. The tempura items (ebi, crabstick, carrot) was awesome! Chawanmushi will never disappoint.
Chicken curry katsu ($14.88+) Japanese curry is always sweeter than average indian curry, but this tasted like the typical Mee Rebus broth. Not recommended.
I'd prefer ordering just the plates from the conveyer belt rather than the main courses... It's cheaper too and more filling!

KRAVE
As we were looking for dessert places to go after our satisfying buffet meal (see previous post), we bumped into this new Halal cafe, KRAVE.
Koh Nangkam Southern Thai Restaurant
Went here with the impression of ordering a few dishes, but was told once we reached there that there's only going to be a buffet @ $18/Adult the whole of Ramadan.
There was also Laksa which I did not get to try cause I was too full by then. And as desserts, there were fried bananas (super crunchy!) and fresh seasonal fruits.
Also, PLEASE MAKE RESERVATIONS EARLY AND CONFIRM IT TOO because they somehow lost mine even though I called them 5 days before. (We were so lucky to be given an empty table cause of no-shows)
The buffet we had!
- steamed white rice
- green curry (nice texture)
- sambal prawns (prawns were too tiny)
- prawn fritters (love it!)
- fried chicken (extremely delish!
- chap chye vege (will never disappoint)
- Clear tom yum soup (felt like I was eating chicken soup; lacking in tom yum tangy-ness)
- thai iced milk tea (Amazing!)
- iced lemon tea (refreshing!)
There's even Sup Tulang! (Bone steak) A tad oily but acceptable tastewise.
Highly recommend this place for your iftar needs. The food was so good and at a price of $18, it's extremely worth the money! Just note that the restaurant is extremely crowded so you have to be pretty kiasu to get the food that you deserve. Epitome of "you snooze you lose" so if you want second servings, hoard them fast!
(Will definitely return to try their ala-carte dishes after Ramadan)
